My Soul Glorifies The Lord And My Spirit Rejoices In God My Savior

My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior - Luke 1:47.

The angel announced Mary that she would give birth to Jesus and told her that the Holy Spirit will be upon her and nothing will be impossible for God. For with God nothing will be impossible - Luke 1:37. Mary believed the promise of God and praised God even before it was fulfilled in her life.

For lifting up the humble

For he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed - Luke 1:48. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty - Luke 1:52, 53.

For doing great things and mighty deeds

For the Mighty One has done great things for me - holy is his name - Luke 1:49. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts - Luke 1:51.

For His mercy

His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation - Luke 1:50. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors - Luke 1:54,55.

Luke 1:46-55

                                                                       Mary’s Song

46 And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord

47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

48 for he has been mindful

of the humble state of his servant.

From now on all generations will call me blessed,

49     for the Mighty One has done great things for me—

    holy is his name.

50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,

    from generation to generation.

51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;

he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones

but has lifted up the humble.

53 He has filled the hungry with good things

but has sent the rich away empty.

54 He has helped his servant Israel,

    remembering to be merciful

55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,

just as he promised our ancestors.”

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us glorify and rejoice in You with faith like Mary even before the promises are fulfilled in our life. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
