The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim. And they left their images there, and David and his men carried them away - 2 Samuel 5:20.
The Lord of Breakthrough
Baal-perazim means “The Lord of Breakthrough.” David named Baal Perazim after defeating Philistines as God broke through the enemies. It serves as a testament to God’s power prevailing over the enemy’s strongholds. So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim. And they left their images there, and David and his men carried them away - 2 Samuel 5:20,21 .
Obedience
David always inquired of the Lord before going to the war and he was obedient to what He tells to do. So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” And the Lord said to David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.” - 2 Samuel 5:19.
Let us thank God who brought breakthroughs in our life and rescued us from enemies. And rescued us from our enemies, For His mercy endures forever - Psalm 136:24. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies - Psalm 18:3. He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked - Psalm 97:10. He delivers me from my enemies; Surely You lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the violent man - Psalm 18:48.
