Living In Unity

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity - Psalm 133:1.

Living together in unity is like oil poured on Aaron’s head and like the dew of Hermon falling on Mount Zion. God’s blessings flow down to us when we live in unity. How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity. It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore - Psalm 133: 1-3.
As God’s chosen people, let us be humble, gentle and patient. Let us also forgive one another and bear with one another in love to maintain the spirit of unity. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity - Colossians 3:12-14. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace - Ephesians 4:2-3.
Selfishness is a hindrance to unity. Being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others - Philippians 2:2-4. As we follow Christ, God will give us the spirit of unity to worship Him with one heart. Paul says in Romans that “Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” - Romans 15:5-6.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to live together in unity. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
