Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you” - John 20:19.
The disciples were gathered
in a locked room for fear of the Jews on the first day of the week after the
death of Jesus. Suddenly, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be
with you”. He showed them His hands and His side and the disciples were glad
when they saw Him. He appeared to the disciples again after a week and said to
them, “Peace be with you”. A week later
his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the
doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with
you!” - John 20:26.
Like the disciples, we too are locked
up in houses now in fear of coronavirus. But God who is in control is in our midst and He says to
us, “Peace be with you”. He had made
peace through His blood that is shed on the cross. For God was pleased to have
all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all
things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through
his blood, shed on the cross - Colossians 1:19,20.
God Himself is our peace and He gives us His peace. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid - John 14:27. The peace of God is with us, Let us not be anxious about anything and may the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are the Prince of peace and we thank
You as Your peace is always with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
