Highly Favored One - Mary

 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” - Luke 1:28.

Mary - Chosen by God

              Mary was highly favored as God chose her to be the one to give birth to Jesus. The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary who was betrothed to Joseph and announced that she would give birth to Jesus, the "Son of the Most High". Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus - Luke 1:30,31. 

Mary’s faith and submission

                 Mary wondered how can she conceive as she was a virgin. The angel told her that the Holy Spirit will be upon her and nothing will be impossible for God. For with God nothing will be impossible - Luke 1:37. Mary believed that God will fulfill what He had told her and submitted herself to His will. Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord - Luke 1:45. 

Mary’s song

                Mary praised the Mighty God who had done great things for her. And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name" - Luke 1:46-49. 

                                                                

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to believe that with You all things are possible and submit ourselves to Your plan like Mary. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
