Be Doers of The Word

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves - James 1:22.

We are deceiving ourselves when we are hearers of the word only and not the doers. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was - James 1:23,24.

We lie against the truth if we have bitterness in our heart. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth - James 3:14. We are liars and the truth is not in us when we do not keep His commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him - 1 John 2:4.

We are not the doers of the word unless we get rid of anger and humbly accept the word planted in us which can save us. Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you - James 1:19-21.

We deceive ourselves when we do not control our tongue, do not help orphans and widows in their distress and do not keep us holy. If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless - James 1:26. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world - James 1:27.

We love God and we are the friends of God and blessed when we are the doers of the Word. Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him" - John 14:23. You are my friends if you do what I command you - John 15:14. Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it! - Luke 11:28.

We will be blessed in what what we do when we are the doers of the word.  But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do- James 125.

We will have a long, good life when we are the doers of the Word. My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life - Proverbs 4:10.

God instructs us to stay away from people who are just having a form of godliness but always learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth. Having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth - 2 Timothy 3:5,7.

Let us be the doers of the word, and not hearers only. Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them - Psalm 119:129. Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams -1 Samuel 15:22.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us be doers of the word, and not hearers only. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
