He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful - Luke 6:36.
Our God is kind and merciful to the ungrateful and wicked. He wants us also to be kind, merciful and love our enemies just as He loved us while we were the enemies of of God. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! - Romans 5:8-10.
Love your enemies, Do good, Bless & Pray - Do to others as you would have them do to you
But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you - Luke 6:27-31.
God will reward us - Love your enemies & do good
If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful - Luke 6:32-36.
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you - Proverbs 25:21,22.
God will repay - Overcome evil with good
Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.- Romans 12:17-21.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are kind and merciful to the ungrateful and wicked. Change our heart and surround us by the power of Your love. Let us also love, do good, bless, pray, be kind and merciful to our enemies. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
