Do Not Trust Riches

He who trusts in his riches will fall - Proverbs 11:28. 

Never set your heart on riches

                 We should never set our heart on riches as it is God who gives us wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them. If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them - Psalm 62:10. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also - Matthew 6:21. Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil - this is a gift of God - Ecclesiastes 5:19.

Riches are uncertain       

                      Riches are uncertain and so instead of trusting the riches, let us trust God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy - 1Timothy 6:17.

Riches do not last forever 

                  Riches do not last forever and so let us store our treasures in heaven and not on earth. Riches do not last forever - Proverbs 27:24. Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions - Matthew 19:20,21. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal - Matthew 6:19-20.

                  Let us not trust our uncertain riches but instead trust God who gives us everything. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God - Luke 12:19-21. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding - Proverbs 3:5. 

Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.  And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God - Matthew 19:23,24.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us not trust our uncertain riches but always trust You. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
