And Moses built an altar and called its
name, The Lord is my banner. Exodus 17:15.
Jehovah Nissi means The Lord is my
banner. In Exodus 17, we learn that Amalekites were attacking the Israelites at
Rephidim. This is the first battle Israelites faced since their deliverance
from Egypt. Joshua and Israelites fought against
the Amalekites. When Moses’ hands were lifted, Israelites were winning whereas
Amalekites were winning when his hands were lowered.
Israelites won the battle with Aaron and
Hur supporting Moses’ arms. God is our rock and salvation. He leads us and
protects us. He fights for us and gives us victory. Like how Aaron and Hur
supported the arms of Moses, let us support each other in prayer. Prayer brings
victory. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in
the midst of them – Mathew 18:20.
After their victory in battle, Moses built an
altar and called its name “The Lord is my banner”. The Lord is our banner and let us trust only Him.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the Name of the Lord
our God. Psalm 20:7.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are Jehovah Nissi,
The Lord our banner. We thank you for fighting for us and leading us into
victory over any challenges we face. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
