Then Isaac sowed in that land, and
reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him - Genesis 26:12.
There was a famine in the land at the time of
Isaac just as there was a famine in the time of Abraham. There was a famine in
the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac
went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar – Genesis 26:1. God told
Isaac to remain in Gerar and promised to bless him there. Then the Lord appeared to him and said: “Do not go
down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. Dwell in this land,
and I will be with you and bless you” - Genesis 26:2,3.
Though there was a famine in the
land, the Lord said Isaac to live in that land and Isaac obeyed. So Isaac dwelt
in Gerar - Genesis 26:6. He trusted the Lord and obeyed by remaining in Gerar. There
was a great blessing in obedience. If you are willing and obedient, You shall
eat the good of the land - Isaiah 1:9. Regardless of the famine situation, Isaac
sowed in that land as God had promised to bless him. God is always faithful and He keeps His
promises.
The
Lord blessed Isaac and in the same year Isaac reaped a hundredfold of what he
had sowed. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became
very prosperous - Genesis 26:13. God can bless us abundantly even in the midst
of hard times. He blesses us and multiplies us in a way that we have not
imagined. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we
ask or think, according to the power that works in us - Ephesians 3:20. Surely
blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you - Hebrews 6:14
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are the Lord who blesses us. Help us to obey You and trust You in the midst of all our situations. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
