Then their eyes were opened and they
recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight – Luke 24:31.
God wants us to see everything in His perspective.
Mathew 6:22 says that “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye
is good, your whole body will be full of light.” Paul prayed for Ephesians as “I pray that the
eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope
of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the
saints” (Ephesians 1:18). When we start seeing things out of eyes of faith, we
can see that God is greater than all our problems.
Elisha’s servant was afraid
when he saw a huge army and so Elisha prayed for him. So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who
are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and
said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the
eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses
and chariots of fire all around Elisha - 2 Kings 6:16,17. Like Elisha’s servant
we may also be blinded by our circumstances around us. Let us ask God to open our
spiritual eyes as He did for Elisha’s servant.
Let
us ask God to open our eyes to see the wonderful things in His word. Open my
eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law - Psalm 119:18. The statutes
of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is
pure, enlightening the eyes - Psalm 19:8. While we do not look at the things
which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are
seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal - 2 Corinthians
4:18. May God open our spiritual eyes!!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Open our eyes to
see the wonderful things in Your word. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
