Set
your mind on things above, not on things on the earth – Colossians 3:2.
In Luke 10:38-42, we see that
Martha invited Jesus to her home. Now it
happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman
named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat
at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving,
and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left
me to serve alone? Therefore, tell her to help me” – Luke 10:38,39.
Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and heard His
word whereas Martha was troubled by many tasks. Martha’s worry and distraction
prevented her from being present with Jesus. And Jesus answered and said to
her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one
thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken
away from her” - Luke 10:41,42.
Like Mary, let us also choose the best part of
seeking God first instead of being worried and distracted by worldly things. But
seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall
be added to you - Mathew 6:33. Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest - Mathew 11:28. Let us love the Lord with all
our heart, all our mind, and all our strength.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to choose
the best part in our life by seeking You first like Mary. In
Jesus name we pray. Amen.
