But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob
whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend - Isaiah 41:8.
Abraham was called
as the friend of God. Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for
righteousness. And he was called the friend of God - James 2:23. Moses was also
called as God’s friend. God spoke with Moses face to face as a man speaks to
his friend. So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his
friend - Exodus 33:11. I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in
dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord - Numbers 12:8.
Both
Abraham and Moses are called friends of God as they spent more time with God by
hearing His voice. In Genesis 18:17, God says “Shall I hide from Abraham what I
am about to do? He made
known His ways to Moses - Psalm 103:7. God calls us friends too.
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master
is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My
Father I have made known to you - John 15:15. We will be friends of God when we
obey His commandments and follow Him. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you -
John 15:14.
God loved us so much that He gave His
life for us. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for
his friends - John 15:13. Except God, no one will really understand us. He
understands every detail of our lives better than anyone else. He cares for us
and never changes. He is our only best friend who is always with us at all situations. When you go
through deep waters, I will be with you - Isaiah 43:2.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank You for
being the best friend of us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
