A Man called Pilate

Then Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered and said to him, “It is as you say.” - Mark 15:2.

Pontius Pilate was the Roman governor of Judea from A.D. 26-36, serving under Emperor Tiberius. He is most known for his involvement in condemning Jesus to death on a cross. He declared Jesus to be not guilty several times. Then he said to them the third time, “Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. I will therefore chastise Him and let Him go.” - Luke 23:22.
While Pilate was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him.”- Mathew 27:19. Pilate struggled with his decision. But as the Voice of the Crowd was in conflict with his conscience, he wanted to please the crowd. “Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified” (Mark 15:15).
As soon as Jesus died, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus in order to bury Him, and Pilate granted the request (John 19:38). Pilate assigned guards for the tomb of Jesus. Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how” - Matthew 27:65. As Pilate wanted to please people, he handed Jesus for crucifixion. Let us always favor God by making right choices without any fear.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to make right choices that pleases You. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
