Do this in remembrance of me - Luke
22:19.
Jesus
instituted the Lord’s Supper the night before His crucifixion when he had the
Passover meal with His disciples. And when He had given thanks, He broke it and
said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in
remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper,
saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you
drink it, in remembrance of Me.” - 1 Corinthians 11:24-27.
Because Jesus shed His blood for us, and His body is broken for us, we are free from the power and penalty of sin. The power
of communion is to remember God’s faithfulness, ways, love and His commitment
to us. Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I
am God, and there is none like Me - Isaiah 46:9,10. Your love, O Lord, reaches
to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies., How priceless is your
unfailing love - Psalm 36:5-7,
Let
us self-examine ourselves and remember the sacrifice of our Lord through the
Lord’s supper. For as often as you eat
this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes - 1
Cor 11:26. When we eat and drink, we take Christ in us, the hope of glory. It
is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me - Galatians 2:20.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank You for
Your body that is broken for us and Your blood that is shed for us. In Jesus
name we pray. Amen.
