Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify
the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate - Hebrews 13:12.
God shed His Blood for us to be sanctified.
His blood purifies us from all sins. Jesus said, “This is My blood of the
covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins” - Matthew
26:28. He is the lamb of God who took away the sin of the whole world. And He
Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for
the whole world - 1 John 2:2.
In 1 John 1:7-9 we are told
that, “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with
one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If
we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” When we confess all our sins to God, the
blood of Jesus provides us complete forgiveness and cleansing.
We were brought near to the
Lord by His blood. “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been
brought near by the blood of Christ.” - Ephesians 2:13. As far as the east is
from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us - Psalm 103:12.
Peter says that we have been saved "through the sanctifying work of the
Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood" (1
Peter 1:2). As we worship a holy God, let us also be holy in everything we do.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank You for
sanctifying us by Your precious blood. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
