Peter's Denial

But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.” - Luke 22:57.

In the last supper, Jesus told his disciples that all will stumble because of Him this night. But Peter proudly proclaimed that he will never leave Jesus even if everyone leaves Him. Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.”- Mathew 26:33. But Jesus told Peter that he will deny Him three times.
Jesus also told him that he had prayed for him that his faith should not fail. Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” - Mathew 26:34,35. Peter who said earlier that he was ready to die for Jesus, denied Him three times because of fear for his life. He failed even though he courageously followed Jesus into the high priest’s court yard.
Peter went out and wept bitterly. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly - Luke 22:61,62. As Peter was not able to overcome the weakness of his flesh, he failed. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall - 1 Corinthians 10:12.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Reveal us the areas of life where we have been denying you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
