Now there stood by the cross of Jesus
His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary
Magdalene - John 19:25.
Mary rejoiced when the
angel announced her about the child to be born. My spirit rejoices in God my
Savior - Luke 1:47. Mary thanked and praised God after Jesus was born. My soul glorifies
the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of
the humble state of his servant - Luke 1:46-48.
Simeon's prophecy to Mary given at
Jesus' dedication comes to pass: "And a sword will pierce your own soul
too." (Luke 2:35b). Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ who bore him to the
world watched the sufferings of Jesus on the cross. She stood at the foot of
the cross and her heart was broken.
Jesus cared for his
mother even when he was suffering on the cross. John was at the cross with Mary,
the mother of Jesus. When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He
loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then
He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour the disciple
took her into his own household - John 19:26,27.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank You for giving
Your life for us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
