Power of the Cross

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God - 1 Corinthians 1:18.

Jesus came to the world to save us as we all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God - Romans 3:23. And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness for by His wounds you were healed - 1 Peter 2:24. All our sins were nailed to the cross. Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross - Colossians 2:14.
Jesus who was the king of glory endured shame on the cross for us. Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God - Hebrews 12:2. Paul said that he would never boast anything other than the cross of our Lord. But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world - Galatians 6:14.
The power of the cross is not in words but in action on how we live our life. Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me -Mathew 16:24. Let us take up the cross and follow God by denying ourselves. For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect - 1 Corinthians 1:17.

PRAYER: We thank You for the power of the cross that brought us forgiveness of sins and hope. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
