And whoever exalts himself will be
humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted - Mathew 23:12.
Jesus was exalted high because of
His humility. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and
became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore
God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every
name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and
of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father - Philippians
2:8-11.
God will lift us up when we
humble ourselves in His sight. Humble yourselves in the sight of
the Lord, and He will lift you up - James 4:10. Humility comes before honor. God gives grace to the humble. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another,
and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the
humble - 1 Peter 5:5.
Let us
value others above ourselves in humility. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or
vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves - Philippians 2:3.
God’s favor will be with us when we are humble in spirit. These are the ones I
look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who
tremble at my word - Isaiah 66:2. And what does the Lord require of you but to
do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? - Micah 6:8.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to walk in
humility. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
