But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our
Lord Jesus Christ. 1Corinthians 15:57.
In Exodus 17: 8-14, we see about
Israelites getting victory over the Amalekites. Amalekites came to fight with
Israelites and so Joshua fought with them. Aaron and Hur held up the hands of
Moses. When Moses held up his hand, Israelites prevailed and when he let down
his hand, Amalekites prevailed. The Israelites completely defeated Amalekites
in the battle.
After
winning the battle, Moses built an altar and named the place Jehovah Nissi, the
Lord is my banner. Moses acknowledged that God alone brought them victory. And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner – Exodus 17:15. The Lord
is our banner who gives us the victory.
There may be many Amalekites in our life too.
But God trains us in war, fights for us and gives us victory. Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my
hands for war, and my fingers for battle. Psalm 144:1. Let us give thanks to
God for granting us victory in all our battles in life. Like Moses, let us also build
an altar of thanksgiving in our heart and praise God.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are our banner. We thank You for giving us victory in all the areas of our life. In
Jesus name we pray. Amen.
