But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns
to God, and the prisoners were listening to them – Acts 16:25.
When
things seem very dark in life, let us remember that Jesus is our light (John
9:5). Paul says that “the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be
compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Rom. 8:18). Therefore, we can hope that “all things work
together for good to those who love God” (Rom. 8:28). There is absolutely
nothing that can separate us from the love of God.
When we are in the midst of trials, the enemy always try to get us to
doubt about the goodness of God. But God is always good and His loving kindness
is everlasting. Praising God in the midst of a trial may seem impossible for
us. When Paul and Silas were in prison, they chose to praise God at midnight instead
of worrying about the situation. Their chains fell off and the jailer and his household
were saved. (Acts 16:16-34).
Choosing to be thankful to God and joyful in spite of circumstances with
the help of the Holy spirit can bring others to Christ. And not only that, but
we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance and
perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint,
because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit
who was given to us - Romans 5:3-5.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank You for Your
goodness in our life. Lead us to praise and thank You in midst of our trials.
In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
