Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” - Matthew 26:34,35.
Peter denied Jesus three times after He
was arrested despite knowing Him from the start of His earthly ministry. Then he began to curse and swear, "I do not know this Man of whom you speak!" - Mark 14:71. And
the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the
Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three
times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly - Luke 22:61,62.
Peter realized what he had done and and wept
bitterly after he denied Jesus. He repented and turned to Jesus and found hope.
For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted;
but the sorrow of the world produces death - 2 Corinthians 7:10. He who covers
his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have
mercy - Proverbs 28:13.
Peter’s faith did not fail like how Jesus prayed for him. After his repentance, he fulfilled the ministry to which he had been called. And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren” - Luke 22:31,32. Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord - Acts 3:19.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us repent from our sins so that times of refreshing comes in our life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
