For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins - Matthew 26:28.
1. Sweating blood in Gethsemane
And being in agony He was praying
very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the
ground." In Gethsemane, because He was willing to identify Himself with the
sin of the world, His Blood began to flow in the drops of sweat - Luke 22:44.
2. Struck and beaten
3. Beard plucked out
The Lord God has opened My ear; and I
was not disobedient, nor did I turn back. I gave My back to those who strike
Me, and My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard, I did not cover My face
from humiliation and spitting. The hair of His beard was pulled out - Isaiah
50: 5-6.
4. Back scourged
Then he released Barabbas to them;
and when he had [a]scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified - Matthew
27:26. The plowers plowed on my back; They made their furrows long – Psalm 129:3.
5. Crown of thorns
When they had twisted a crown of
thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed
the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” - Matthew
27:29.
6. Crucified
Then they crucified Him, and divided His
garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the
prophet: “They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast
lots” - Matthew 27:35.
7. Side pierced
But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out - John 19:34.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank You for
