But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly - Matthew 6:3,4.
God wants us to give secretly in such a
way that even our left hand do not know what our right hand is doing. Take heed
that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise,
you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a
charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the
synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say
to you, they have their reward - Matthew 6:1, 2.
God will pay us back what we have given to
the poor. He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, And He will pay back
what he has given - Proverbs 19:17. And whoever gives one of these little ones
only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he
shall by no means lose his reward - Matthew 10:42. Assuredly, I say to you,
inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to
Me - Matthew 25:40.
When we do a charitable deed in secret, God who sees in secret will reward us openly. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me’ - Matthew 25:34-36. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven - Matthew 5:16.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us give to the poor
secretly and generously. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
