The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made - Psalm 145:8,9.
Jesus had compassion for lost
souls. He was moved with compassion when He saw the people who were weary and scattered
like sheep without Shepherd. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with
compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having
no shepherd - Matthew 9:36. He fed the four thousand people miraculously as
He had compassion on them. I have compassion on the multitude, because they
have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat - Mark 8:2. He had compassion for his mother and so assigned John to take care of His mother when He was on the cross.
Jesus touched the eyes of two blindmen in compassion and they received the sight immediately. So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him - Matthew 20:34. He was moved with compassion when he saw a leper and cleansed him. Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed - Mark 41.42.
Jesus raised the son of the widow of Nain in compassion. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” So he who was dead sat up and began to speak - Luke 7:13-15. And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick - Matthew 14:14. Let us also be compassionate with others like Jesus. Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble - 1 Peter 3:8.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are the father of compassion. Help us to be compassionate with others. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
