Hosanna In The Highest

Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!” - Matthew 21:9.

The Palm Sunday is the day that Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a small donkey. The Prophet Zechariah prophesied how Jesus would come to Jerusalem. Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold You king is coming to You; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt the foal of a donkey - Zechariah 9:9.

As Zechariah prophesied, Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a little donkey on the Palm Sunday. People put their clothes on the road, waved the palm branch and shouted "Hosanna to the son of David". Hosanna means “Save us”. They shouted, “Hosanna!! Hosanna!!  Son of David!! Blessed is the King of Israel!!”. And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?” So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee” - Matthew 21:10,11.

The crowd praised Jesus calling Him the son of David. They rejoiced and praised God for all the mighty works they had seen. Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, saying: “‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” - Luke 19:37,38. Let us praise God for all His mighty works and proclaim the salvation to all people.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, We praise Your Mighty name. Your are the Redeemer and the Blessed one. We thank You for saving us by Your grace. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
