Devote yourselves to prayer - Romans 12:12.
Jesus withdrew Himself into the wilderness
and prayed. So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed - Luke
5:16. He arose early and prayed. Now in the morning, having risen a long while
before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He
prayed - Mark 1:35. He prayed all night long. Now it came to pass in those days
that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to
God - Luke 6:12. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the
mountain by Himself to pray - Matthew 14:23.
Jesus
prayed in the garden of Gethsemane and submitted to the will of Father before
He was crucified. He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed,
saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me;
nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” - Matthew 26:39. And being in
agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of
blood falling down to the ground - Luke 22:44. He prays to be glorified. After
Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: Father, the hour has come.
Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you -John 17:1.
The
disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray as He prayed and so he taught
them the Lord’s prayer. One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he
finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as
John taught his disciples” - Luke 11:1. Jesus continues to intercede for us. Therefore
he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he
always lives to intercede for them - Hebrews 7:25. Let us also have a time of
prayer like Jesus. Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful - Colossians
4:2.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us be watchful
and thankful in prayer like how You prayed. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
