He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness - by whose stripes you were healed - 1 Peter 2:24.
Christ laid down His life out of His great love for us. We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us - 1 John 3:16. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us - Romans 5:8. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends - John 15:13. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep - John 10:11.
Christ laid down His life that we might live. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us - 1 Corinthians 5:7. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him - 1 John 4:9. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again - 2 Corinthians 5:15.
Let us thank God who destroyed the works of
devil through His death and who laid down His life for us with love. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the
devil’s work - 1 John 3:8. Through death He might destroy him who had the power
of death, that is, the devil - Hebrews 2:14. And being found in appearance as a
man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the
death of the cross - Philippians 2:8.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank for Your great love towards us and sacrificing Your life for us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
