And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times” - Luke 22:61.
Jesus predicted that Peter will deny Him
three times. And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you,
that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith
should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” But
he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.”
Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before
you will deny three times that you know Me” - Luke 22:31-34.
Peter denied Jesus three times despite
knowing Him from the start of His earthly ministry. Then he began to curse and
swear, "I do not know this Man of whom you speak!" - Mark 14:71. And
the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the
Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three
times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly - Luke 22:61,62. Peter went out and
wept bitterly. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered
the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you
will deny Me three times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly - Luke 22:61,62.
Later Peter was mightily used by God. When he preached,
about three thousand people were baptized and added to the church - Acts 2:41.
He healed a lame man and preached boldly. They brought the sick out into the
streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter
passing by might fall on some of them - Acts 5:14. Peter also strengthened the
other disciples and became the pillar of the early church in Jerusalem.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us
rise and shine for Your glory. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
