Mary, Joseph, and Shepherds were very much afraid before the birth of Jesus. When the angel visited and greeted Mary, she was troubled. Then the
angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God” –
Luke 1:30. The shepherds were greatly afraid when an angel stood before them. Then
the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings
of great joy which will be to all people - Luke 2:10. The shepherds went to
Bethlehem to visit Jesus after they heard the joyful news about his birth.
Joseph was afraid to take Mary as his
wife when he found that she was pregnant. The angel told Joseph not to fear to
take Mary with him as the child is of the Holy spirit. But while he thought
about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream,
saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife,
for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit – Mathew 1:20. All their fears were turned into joy.
God does not want us to live with fear. As God is our shield, nothing
can harm us. Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I
will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous
right hand - Isaiah 41:10. God is always with us. The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Psalm 46:7.
PRAYER : Dear Lord, You are Emmanuel who is always with us. Take away all
fears from us and uphold us with Your righteous hand. In Jesus name I pray.
Amen
