Take Care of My Sheep

 Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep"  - John 21:15.

              Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him. Each time Peter responded that he did indeed love Him and Jesus told him to feed His sheep. Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep." The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep - John 21:15-17. He also told to follow Him. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me” - John 21:19.

         Peter who denied the Lord three times preached the first gospel message on the day of Pentecost and 3000 souls were saved. Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” - Acts 2:37-39. When he preached, about three thousand people were baptized and added to the church - Acts 2:41. 

             Peter served God by taking care of His sheep and He was mightily used by Him. Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength - Acts 3:6,7. And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them - Acts 5:14-16. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it - Matthew 16:18. 

              Let us also love the Lord our God and serve Him by taking care of His sheep like Peter. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind - Matthew 22:37. Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature - Mark 16:15. And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give - Matthew 10:7-8.

                                                                        

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us love You more and take care of Your sheep by spreading the gospel. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
