Judas & Peter

He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy - Proverbs 28:13.

Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver whereas Peter denied Jesus three times later that night. And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him - John 13:2. Then he began to curse and swear, saying, “I do not know the Man!” - Matthew 28:74.

Jesus said Judas to do quickly what he was about to do. As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly" - John 13:27. But He told Peter that He will pray for Him so that his faith may not fail. Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers - Luke 22:31, 32.

Judas did not repent whereas Peter repented and was restored.  And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly - Luke 22:61,62.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, We come to You. Let us not cover our sins but instead confess and have mercy. In Jesus' name we pray.
