The Love of Money Is The Root of All Kinds of Evil

The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil - 1 Timothy 6:10.

Judas who was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus had the love for money as he used to take what was put in the money box. But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it - John 12:4-6.

Judas gave devil an opportunity to enter into him through his love for money. And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him - John 13:2. Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, 'What will you give me if I betray him to you?' They paid him thirty pieces of silver. And from that moment he began to look for an opportunity to betray him - Matthew 26: 14-16.

Let us not give the devil a foothold in our life by having the love for money as it is the root of all kinds of evil. Do not give the devil a foothold - Ephesians 4:27. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also - Matthew 7:21. We cannot serve both God and money at the same time. No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon - Mathew 6:24. Set your mind on things above and not on things on earth - Colossians 3:2.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us set our minds on the things above and not on money which is the root of all kinds of evil. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
